Our instinct in January…

January is always the month we seem to dread the most, a very quiet uneventful month after all the anticipation, preparation and highs of the festive season. Yet, it is one of the months I enjoy the most as it is time to recharge. Our human instinct in Winter is to hunker down and hide away at home next to the fire with a cup of chocolate and a good book, to enjoy the quiet time we have in frosty walks on icy cold days and to spend time regrouping and reflecting on the year that has passed and our plans for the year ahead.

This month I have loved all those dull grey days, and yes there has certainly been plenty of them. I have been busy but at a much slower pace than the manic period leading up to Christmas!  I have really enjoyed pottering at weekends and using the time to slow things down and rest, where I realised that I don’t do this enough! We all work so hard leading up to the festive break that we don’t find the time to enjoy life enough, and although I never grumble as I simply love my work, the gentle quietness and sleepiness of January is the perfect time to hunker down and do this. And I have also enjoyed some time to plan for the coming year.

The year ahead is turning in to a busy one already with lots of plans in the background. We will be developing the on-line shop which will show all of our handmade collection, as well as some beautiful home accessories sourced from around the UK. We will also be attending a selection of shows across the Summer, more news of these to come!

Finally, one of my highlights from January 2017 was …. being named the #ljphotoboards winner by well-known lifestyle Photographer Lyndsey James! Needless to say, I have a few of her beautiful backdrop boards now and I absolutely love them, they suit my natural rustic style of photography and our products perfectly!  What a perfect month.

So, what have you enjoyed the most about January…?
