Over 10 years ago, I was approached by Cherry from The Lilac Barn and asked if I could run some workshops for curtain and roman blind making, and so our Somerset workshops were born. Our workshops are still running today, and as the workshops developed, we introduced the increasingly popular drum and tailored lampshade workshops and incorporated cushions in to the curtains and blind workshops.
I have often thought of taking the workshops out of Somerset and over the past 12 months I have been asked if I would run some workshops in other locations. This, combined with my popular one-to-one workshops and travelling to the Cotswolds frequently, one day I realised that the perfect location was actually right in front of me all the time! I began looking for the right location to help develop our one day workshops in to the NEW two day workshops in the beautiful antique town of Tetbury.
Without a doubt, starting your own business leads us in to an incredible journey of inspiration and discovery, a ten-year journey of passion and creativity. However, one of the best things about it has been meeting some truly amazing students with a shared passion for creativity and drive to create their own homes. Watching students return time and again to learn new skills and or just needing support with a challenging project makes it a very rewarding experience.
So, what makes our workshops special and different? Well, each student works on their own projects from start to finish, including measuring, pattern repeats and hand sewing techniques. We often have a mixture of curtains, roman blinds and cushions, and each student will have their own ideas and I guide them through. I encourage small to medium projects due to room but mainly to allow everyone to achieve as much as possible in the two days.
Whether you are a beginner who wants to make curtains and blinds for your own home, or you have a little experience and would like to update those skills, these workshops are designed just for you. Classes are limited to ensure that everyone gets the right amount of attention in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
I am always happy to help with any queries so please contact me by phone or email and I will be very happy to answer any questions you may have. I can also supply a range of beautiful British fabrics for you to make into your soft furnishing project.
So, if you are ready to begin your journey to learn a new skill or to develop your existing skills, just click on any of the workshops for more information and to book your place.
I look forward to meeting you one day!
Thank you and bye for now. Helen
